Imbroglio
“Imbroglio” unfolds within a timeless and fantastical Italian realm, paying homage to the classic Hollywood and European film noirs of the 1940s and 1950s.
Giorgio Gambetti, a Tax Inspector with the ‘Giustizia Tributaria’, embarks on a professional pursuit of fraudsters, mirroring his personal mission—to track down the youthful libertine who has ensnared his wife, Maria.
Giorgio’s clandestine investigation leads him into the dark underbelly of a city that whispers his name with familiarity. Crushed by the revelation of his wife’s betrayal during his inquiry, Giorgio realizes that there is no dignified exit from his suffocating predicament—his “imbroglio.” When he finally confronts his wife’s paramour in a downtown café, he finds himself with no recourse but to take a life.
